By: | Tags: | Comments: 0

[Posted October 31, 2016] There’s no gift like the gift of learning. Uni alumni are making that happen by buying books for the school library via a new program using Amazon.com’s Wish List program. Coordinated jointly by Uni alumna and school librarian Tascha Folsoi ‘86 and the UHEF, the project allows anyone to go to a Amazon “Wish List” and buy a book that will be sent directly to the school. [Posted October 25, 2016] Remember IPS – Uni’s “Innovative Program School”? The unique program, as controversial for the students in it as the intentionally-unstructured instructional approach, was remembered on the Los Angeles Magazine Web site. David Kukoff’s story, published today, entitled “Sex, Drugs, and Textbooks: Inside L.A.’s Most Controversial Educational Experiment” and sub-titled “Uni High tapped into the pop-psych teachings of the ’70s to create one of the most bizarre curriculums of the era” is a preview of his upcoming book on Los Angeles in the 1970s.   It’s accompanied […]

By: | Tags: | Comments: 0

[Posted October 10, 2016] A new study from the Pew Research Center found that 92% of younger adults (18-29) prefer to read books in print when researching specific topics of interest. That comes as no surprise to Uni alumna, teacher and school librarian Tascha Folsoi ‘86: “Our collection is aging, but our students are as young as ever. Last month, I was so excited to find one of my friend’s names written on the library card of one of our books. Next to her name, the due date was stamped: […]

As a golf professional at Brentwood Country Club, I conduct all the golf tournaments; give individual and group lessons; grow and promote junior golf programs; and assist managing the golf staff. “I was asked to revive the boy’s golf team at Uni about three years ago […]
