Tickets now available for Uni’s production of Disney’s “High School Musical”

[Posted February 28, 2016] The hit story of rivals trying out for top roles in the school play is coming to Uni’s Stivelman Theater in April and tickets are now available.

Uni’s spring 2016 production of Disney’s “High School Musical” will have four performances on April 26-27-28-29 and tickets are now available online at BrownPaperTickets.com.

Uni’s Director of Theater Arts, Ronnie Sperling ‘76 notes that “Disney’s ‘High School Musical’ is our most ambitious production to date. Exciting choreography, a large cast, awesome sets, contemporary costumes, some modern lighting, and a surprise appearance by the Uni High Drumline will combine to make this Disney Channel classic come to life on our Stivelman Theater stage.”

The Creative team is led by Sperling and includes choreographer Lindsey Lorenz and music director Kahlil Sabbagh. The Design team includes sets by John Ong, costumes by Suzanne Scott Wakefield, and lighting by Rob Fritz.

Let’s introduce the cast of Uni’s edition of Disney’s “High School Musical:”

The Jocks:
Brian Brass as Troy Bolton, Aaron Samos as Chad Danforth, Mark Burgess as Zeke Baylor, Jalon Moore as Jeff Miller, Charles Adams as Jason Parks.

The Thespians:
Veraliz Cornett as Sharpay Evans, Ryan McNeil as Ryan Evans, Sarai Benitez as Susan Axelrod, Alex Horton as Mascot James Marlon, Victoria Saxxon as Cyndra O’ Neal, Maria Chigo as Meryl Stanislavsky, Brisa Flores as Matilda Dahl.

The Brainiacs:
Alessandra Vela as Gabriella Montez, Alex Strong as Taylor McKessie, Josseline Menjivar as Martha Cox, Alexandria Myrie as Kratnoff, Rose Upton as Agatha.

The Cheerleaders:
Eunice Cruz-Martinez as Ariel, Ginetta Robles as Anna, Cassandra Bridges as Belle, Filsun Ahmed as Jasmine, Mari Johnson as Tiana.

The Skater Dudes:
Xavier Akanmu as Ripper, Ayanna Jimenez as Mongo, Isabella Rodriguez as Spicoli, Sharon Olisa as Slater.

Other Students and Faculty:
Luis A. Vasquez as Jack Scott, Helena Cabrera as Kelsi Neilson, Wyatt Daily as Ms. Darbus, Alex Wynne as Coach Bolton, and Aanijisah Duru as Ms. Tenny.

Supported by UCLA’s Beyond the Bell program for the performing arts, performances are slated for the Stivelman Theater on campus (11800 Texas Avenue, Los Angeles):

  • April 26 (Tuesday), at 7:30 p.m.
  • April 27 (Wednesday), at 3:30 p.m.
  • April 28 (Thursday), at 7:30 p.m.
  • April 29 (Friday), at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets may be purchased for all shows in advance at $10 for adults and $5 for students (with identification) via credit card, or at the Uni Student Store or at the door (cash only). Online purchases carry a 99-cent fee plus a 3.5% charge for credit-card processing.

Parking is available on-campus in the Barrington Avenue or Westgate Avenue lots, not to mention the ample street parking around the Uni campus. The Stivelman Theater entrance is on Texas Avenue.
