Stunning turnout for “Into The Woods” Auditions at Uni

[Posted February 25, 2015] Thanks to the wide success of the motion picture version of “Into The Woods,” Uni Director of Theatre Arts Ronnie Sperling ‘76 expected good interest for parts in his Spring 2015 version when auditions opened in mid-January.

But 70 applicants for only half as many parts?

“Huge turnout!!!,” noted Sperling. “Three days of auditions.” The lengthy casting process involved not just reading for parts, but singing and movement trials to fit into the show. The number of auditions is the most in recent memory, signaling high interest in the show.

“I think we have a terrific cast,” said Sperling. And the show schedule has been better aligned with student and alumni availability:

  • Premiere: Friday, May 8 at 7 p.m.
  • After-School: Thursday, May 14, at 3 p.m.
  • Evening: Friday, May 15, at 7 p.m.
  • Matinee: Saturday, May 16, at 2 p.m.

Tickets are very reasonably priced at $7 for adults and $5 for students (cash only, please), with the proceeds doing directly to relieve the costs of show production.

Mark your calendars now; some extra activities are being planned for Opening Night . . . with more details to follow!

I was at Uni last week to purchase a ticket and was told they didn’t have any yet. I don’t live in the area and it appears you can’t get them online. You should have given a date when they would be available. What are the chances they’ll be available at the door? ~~J.
