All-weather track now installed at Uni as field project completed

[Posted May 15, 2015] The hard, uneven dirt that was the University High School football field and track are no more. A gorgeous AstroTurf field and bright red, Rekortan S all-weather track are now available after the completion of the field and track renovation this week. The old field and cinder track were plowed under in late 2014 and the site cleared in December. From there, the lengthy process of getting the field surface installed took a little more than four months. The track under-surface was completed about the same […]

“Worlds Fastest Humans” salutes Uni great Mel Patton

[Posted May 1, 2015] Congratulations to Larry Booth, author of the just-released book, Worlds Fastest Humans, a look at three great Los Angeles-area sprint stars of the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s: Charlie Paddock, Frank Wykoff and Uni’s own Mel Patton. The 72-page paperback traces the careers of these three students of USC coach Dean Cromwell, all of whom set or equaled the world record in the 100-yard dash between 1921 and 1948. New Uni Football Field Nearly Complete with the New Track to Be Poured in May
