Erin Garcia, Class of ’88 and Student of Arnie Rubinoff, is a Curator for the California Historical Society

Erin Garcia, Class of ’88, is the managing curator of exhibitions for the California Historical Society, located in San Francisco. During the time that Erin was a student at Uni, she took photography with Arnie Rubinoff all three years. This passion for photography sparked here at Uni continued as she majored in Art History at Berkeley and earned a Master’s degree in Art History from The University in New Mexico with an emphasis on photography. Wildcats Participate in Face-to-Face and Online Discussions

Ms. Vollmer is not a teacher who necessarily expected to be on the forefront of using technology in the classroom, but that is where she has found herself this year. This summer she pursued her longtime interest in psychology by taking a course at UCLA. In the class, students were asked to engage in online discussions using a forum similar to Facebook, wherein students posted short, informal essays and then responded to one another’s posts. Homecoming: All Dance, No Game

On October 5, Uni’s Junior Varsity Football team took down Venice with a 40-0 win. Sadly, our varsity Homecoming game was canceled due to rain. Was Hamilton scared off by our JV’s crushing victory the week before?  We will never know as Hamilton is not available for the make-up game. Uni Beats Rancho Dominguez High School

Congratulations to our football team on their first win against Rancho Dominguez HS! They turned things around with a decisive win of 53-13.  Highlights: Uni had two interceptions.  Daryl Smith, running back,  scored two back-to-back touchdowns after a flag.  Anthony Smith, wide receiver, scored a touchdown on an 80-yard pass. Congratulations go out to our varsity girls volleyball team, who secured a 3-1 victory over LACES Friday as well.

Alumni Inspire Researchers of the Future

Uni Beats the International Pass Rate for A.P. Seminar Uni’s first crop of Advanced Placement researchers returned from a summer of preparing for our new A.P. Research class.  Last year all of these students completed the pre-requisite year-long course, A.P.
