Want to make a difference for Uni? The UHEF is looking for you!
[Posted April 2, 2018] Now in its 33rd year, the Uni Hi Education Foundation is looking to expand and invigorate its operations heading into the 2018-19 academic year, as Uni changes its status to become an Affiliated Charter school within the Los Angeles Unified School District.
That means YOU have the opportunity to join the Foundation and help support Uni during this transitional period and join others who have helped join alumni together, raise money and provide programs and services which are not available from the District.
The UHEF has special needs to replace some of its retiring Board members, especially:
- Corporate Secretary: This includes taking minutes at quarterly meetings and the UHEF annual meeting.
- Corporate Treasurer: The UHEF will welcome a pro bono CPA or accounting firm to handle the Foundation’s financial matters, especially the annual tax return and State corporate filings.
In addition, we’re looking for more folks to help with fund-raising – campaign planning, public relations and special events – and help to spread the word about Uni and the quality work it is doing for young people.
The Foundation has raised more than $1.1 million over its lifetime and has helped create the College and Counseling Center, introduced computer-aided classrooms at Uni, distributed tens of thousands of dollars in scholarships and supported extra-curricular programs in the arts, sports and theater. But as Uni is changing, it’s also time to take our efforts to the next level.
Alumni, parents, teachers (and former teachers!) and friends of Uni are all welcome!
