[Posted May 20, 2018] Uni’s petition to become an Affiliated Charter School is moving along, and quickly. Principal Eric Davidson recently wrote to the UHEF, noting: “The Charter petition has been submitted to the District’s Charter School Office for review. The plan will be presented to the LAUSD Board of Education on June 5, 2018. We anticipate the plan being approved.” When approved, Uni’s name will change slightly to reflect its Affiliated Charter status; many of you voted on possible name changes earlier this year on the Uni Web site. [Posted November 6, 2017] “[D]espite its academic, community partnership, and facility revitalization achievements, University High has experienced decreasing enrollment: as an increasing number of community families elect to send their high-school age students to nearby affiliated charter and independent charter high schools.
