Could Uni be getting a new name?

[Posted May 20, 2018] Uni’s petition to become an Affiliated Charter School is moving along, and quickly. Principal Eric Davidson recently wrote to the UHEF, noting:

“The Charter petition has been submitted to the District’s Charter School Office for review. The plan will be presented to the LAUSD Board of Education on June 5, 2018. We anticipate the plan being approved.”

When approved, Uni’s name will change slightly to reflect its Affiliated Charter status; many of you voted on possible name changes earlier this year on the Uni Web site. Once settled, it will be the fourth name for the campus at Ohio and Texas:

  • Fall 1923: Wilson Junior High School
  • Fall 1924: Warren G. Harding High School
  • Fall 1929: University High School
  • Fall 2018: ???

As there are many “University High Schools” in the U.S., Uni has been known for some time within the Los Angeles Unified School District as “University Senior High.” What will the new name be?
