[Posted November 27, 2014] Out of change comes opportunity. When the award-winning Santa Monica Chorus lost its long-time rehearsal home upon the retirement of its director, supporter and Uni Tech Arts Department Chair Danna Coonen-Lee asked Principal Eric Davidson if the group could use some space on campus. The answer was yes, and in return the Chorus is holding its winter concert at Uni’s Stivelman Theater at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 6. Half of all ticket sales will go to benefit the Uni Student Body Fund, up to $2,000 […]

[Posted August 25, 2014] A revitalized theatre arts program at Uni will benefit from an unexpected donation from the Class of 1974 reunion held last March. Pictured above: An ecstatic Ronnie Sperling ‘76, director of Uni’s Theatre Arts programs, accepts the Class of ‘74 donation from Rich Perelman and Lisa Duffy Atkin. On May 21, 2013, LAUSD Board member Steve Zimmer presided over a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the completion of several major construction projects on campus: the Magruder Music Complex, the New Gym, New Tennis Courts and a New Parent Center! The event was held on the beautiful new Westgate Tennis Courts and after speeches Principal Eric Davidson and Board Member Zimmer played a friendly set of tennis. Principal Davidson prevailed! The major construction projects were many years in process. The seismic-mitigation project, initiated in 1995 by LAUSD following the Northridge Earthquake, […]

This past year the UHEF made the following allocations to support the University High School community, totaling $32,007 plus newsletter production and mailing. The College Advisor – $17,100 to cover health insurance. The LAUSD agreed to pay her salary as a professional expert, not a contract employee, and would not cover benefits. We are delighted that we could help so many of Uni’s students. Fortunately, her position became full-time for the new school year so we will not have to cover her benefits in the coming year. The Challenge is On! Class of 1965 Raises the Stakes!

By: | Tags: , , | Comments: 0

All of us are aware of the difficulties facing students and teachers in public schools today. The media is filled with data about decreases in funding for education and state and national budget issues. LAUSD has no way to disburse donated funds to an individual school. In 1985, the Uni High Education Foundation was established to […]
